(Uncle Dave, Aunt "T", Trixie, Sadie and Nala Bear this past Thursday)
I'm interrupting this typical silent Sunday with a heavy heart.
This morning we lost our sweet little Nala Bear.
Nala has been a part of this family for many more years than I have.
She is Dave and Christina's dog but we have all adopted her as our own...especially my children.
(The boys keep a framed picture of her in their room)
Nala spent all week enjoying the beach but Saturday morning woke up sick.
Dave and Christina cut their vacation short and brought her back home to GA yesterday.
She passed away this morning.
The kids have been remembering when she used to
"jump like a deer through our yard."
I'm envisioning her jumping like a deer again, tail wagging, eyes full of life
prancing around Heaven.
But the Bible is silent on dogs in Heaven, you say.
Yes it is but it isn't completely silent on animals...
"When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I shall recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature..."
(we saw the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen Friday night)
This is a long one but good, it is Isaiah's prophesy of Heaven:
"The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the cobra's den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper's nest.
They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea."
Take heart all of you who have lost a four legged family member,
God draws near to the brokenhearted and cares deeply about His creation.
"Are not five sparrows sold for 2 pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God."

(not a fan of Elmo)
