The clock

Sorry for all the heavy posts.
Come back next week and I'm sure someone will have fallen in the potty or
gone to church with underwear on their head.
But this week has been a little heavy.

Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of my sweet Granddaddy's death.
This time last year my Grandma was kissing him goodbye at the hospice house and her and my mom headed back to the hauntingly empty farm house.
My Grandma laid her head down only to be awakened at 5:25 by the phone ringing.
"There has been a change in Earl you should come."
They headed over, getting there before 6:00 but he had already passed.

They stayed for a while, then headed back to the farm.
It was around 8:00 when they got home.
Grandma wandered into the living room and noticed her clock...

The clock had been a wedding gift from the 4th grade class Grandma taught.
Chances are if you visited with my Granddaddy, he proudly pointed to that clock and
bragged about how it was 63 years old and had never stopped working!

Grandma looked at her clock in disbelief.
It had stopped. At 5:28.
Possibly at the very moment Granddaddy's soul joined Jesus!

She unplugged it and plugged it back in.
She checked the TV that was plugged into the same outlet, it worked fine.
It remained and remains to this day motionless.

"Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame."
Song of Solomon 8:6
